Гость
Grand Theft Auto V is out on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360, and the PC version launches in January. With that out of the way its time to head back to the old west. Rumors concerning one of 2010s best games have been circulating for a while now, and its about time Rockstar reveals Red Dead Redemption 2. We know its happening, and with all versions of Grand Theft Auto V out in the wild the time has never been more right. We may be waiting years for the game to finally hit store shelves, but better knowing now then being left in the dark.

This seems nearly impossible seeing as we’re almost at the 10-year anniversary of the game’s announcement, but I feel fairly positive Final Fantasy XV might at least launch in Japan by the time 2015 ends. The fact that we’re getting a gameplay demo in 2015, the large amount of gameplay trailers released in 2014, and the fact that the English voice-overs are already done is enough evidence to suggest we’ll be playing Final Fantasy XV sooner than later.
Unfortunately, one key component to Red Dead Redemption 2 I have difficulty getting into is the controls. The controls are similar to the typical Rockstar open world formula (at least Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption), with a thousand different actions being assigned to a handful of buttons. This is a mechanical marvel with all the different systems at play, from gunplay, horseback riding, hand-to-hand 6.1 Genshin Banners combat, character interactions and so forth. Controlling Arthur feels loose and stiff at the same time, something I can never put my finger on, and I have a difficult time determining if it’s a good or bad thing. Sometimes it can be frustrating, while other times it can lend to the charm of the game. The gunplay is still top notch, though, with each of the old rifles, pistols and shotguns feeling authentic and enjoyable to fire, especially with the Dead Eye skill. There are a ton of different weapons to obtain, all of which are need to be properly maintained, which somewhat ties into the survival aspect of the game, such as maintaining food intake for both you and your horse.

Throughout this review, I may have seemed a little hard on Red Dead Redemption 2, but the overall package is nothing short of spectacular. It has its share of issues involving controls, but the vast majority of the experience is unforgettable. Rockstar has created the single most immersive Wild West game yet, with an intelligently-written story, a compelling core cast of characters, highly-engaging scenarios and a diverse open world to explore. The visuals are also truly stunning, with a substantial amount of detail put into each environment and character model, not to mention the extraordinary lighting techniques. The world is just ripe for exploration; it may not be the densest place out there, and I do wish there was a larger emphasis on hunting, but there’s still a ton to see and do. With around fifty hours to complete the main campaign, and even more if you do all of the other side activities, a game such as Red Dead Redemption 2 doesn’t come around this often. All I can say is wow.

The Wild West is the perfect setting for Rockstar’s Director Mode. Director Mode, made popular by the ridiculous videos created on GTA V , gives players the ability to reload clips and edit the camera to turn playthroughs into cinematic mini movies. With online capabilities, friends would be able to film intense and intricate stories. Getting to recreate scenes from classic Western movies would be a joy. Whether it’s a shootout at the OK Corral in Tombstone or a drawn out train robbery, players are going to feel like the stars of their own Western action movies. Players should even be able to record multiplayer deathmatches and races and turn their closest victories into suspenseful shorts. What better way to show off and brag to friends about sharpshooter ski

Undead Nightmare not only bought along a whole new storyline for the player to beat, but changed the mechanics of the game to give an entirely different and addictively fun set of challenges to survive. Not taking themselves too seriously, Rockstar took the fairly solemn story of John Marston and his family and turned it on its head, making it a zombie themed nightmare. By changing the gameplay and how danger occurred, Rockstar gave their game incredible replay value. Due to its popularity, Rockstar would be remiss if they didn’t include a game changing DLC like this one. Whether they want to go back to the living dead, or go a different route, like an alien invasion, it will surely add hours of more fun to their g

While Red Dead Redemption 2 will largely focus around Arthur Morgan, the dutiful right-hand man of Dutch Van der Linde, an even more significant portion of the game will revolve around the gang itself and Arthur’s relationships with each member of the outlaw gang as they try to outrun the law and survive in the vastness of the American West.

From its Morricone-inspired score to even the physical similarities that John Marston shared with Eastwood’s iconic Man with No Name, The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly is a no-brainer to watch when selecting Western films, but a crucial film to explore the genre and one that arguably defines the visual styling of the Red Dead series.
